What exactly do you mean with Win32? A actual 32-Bit Windows Operating System? Hardly. You would need a JVM which runs without an operating system and you'll have slight problems finding that (as such a thing doesn't exist - correct me if I'm wrong).

You're wrong; here's the correction: google for "Bare Metal Java".

Amazing! Nevertheless, you can't write any Windows system if you're not, say, Microsoft. You could write an OS of yourself of course.

Nobody in his/her right mind would want to write a Windows OS clone; eeeew!

Jos (<--- yuck, just the thought; I have to take a shower now ;-)

Nope. Nor would anyone want to write an OS (no matter what type) in Java, would they? Could be a bit annoying, having your OS running on a JVM... :-D

They tried to write an entire OS in Java; they named it after me:

"Jos" == Java Operating System.

Jos ;-)

Doesn't surprise me a bit. You should use a language, that runs directly on the hardware (like C (UNIX, Linux) or C++ (Windows)). Hm, writing an OS in Haskell could be quite funny... Or BrainF***... Or Ook... ;-)
