Installing Eclipse and it's plug-ins

Hi

Can anyone tell me the exact site to install eclipse,tomcat and plug-ins(including versions) need for web application development . i saw so many sites and i got confused so asking you people the whole details.I have tried with eclipse 3.3.0 tomcat 4.0 but i have'nt found the correct plug-in for those things.(i got errors while starting tomcat.)is it compulsory to download the plug-ins which will suit for the version or any plug-in will work? Please clarify my doubts. Thanks in advance.

hi,
You will need a Java runtime environment (JRE) to use Eclipse (Java 5 JRE recommended).
for eclipse-

for tomcat download- visit

i tried to install the plug-in from http://openknows.free.fr/ (Tomcat for eclipse 3.1.3.But i'm not able to see any tomcat icon in the eclipse IDE.can u suggest me how and where i can get the correct plug-in???

hi,
the best thing to do acc to me is (if u have installed eclipse) go to the help menu,-->click on software updates-->thenclick on find and install---->click on search for updates of currently installed features.--->then finish--->then choose any mirror from update site mirrors---->then click ok u will get all the plugins for ur version of the eclipse

I don't know about the plugin you got (I think, it's a different one), but I got mine from here. Unpack it, move the folder into your eclipse-plugins-directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\eclipse\plugins) and start eclipse. By the way, it gives more detailed instructions about installation on the site itself.
