which Java /J2EE feature is Useful for my Application

Hi All,

T I am planning to developa a tool which will helps the project leads to assign the task for individual developers and they can keep a track of the status.
The developer and a QA will be the clients who will also have a login and they will enter the status on a daily basis, like the task is under development r fixed r Pass/File.

"Could you all give some thought on how we can send updates to the client program running on each developer’s machine, the updates should happen to appropriate developers whenever a task is assigned is assigned to them! Similar thing should happen when the developers update the status from their machine…..the status should get reflected in the tracker!"
