ternary operator

hi can sombody explain me how the ternary operator generates equal expression as its output eventhough we specify it differently for instance , this is my code

int i=9;
System.out.println(i<10?100:200.0);

how does the output is 100.0 and not 100

thanx in advance

The types of both operands of the <cond>?<true>:<false> have to be assignable
from each other. An int can be assigned to a double so the type will be double
hence the 100.0 instead of 100

kind regards,

Jos
