Document Search

Hi Guy's

My team is developing one product, in that product we are keeping files(.doc,.pdf) in database, we need the solution to search the text in that files pls help us.

Front end : Java, JSP
Server : Tomcat 5.0
Database : Oracle 10G

There are some packages for manipulating word docs and pdfs, (google poi). However you may want to implement this yourself in which case I'd suggest using a servlet utility class that you put in the search methods. You obviously would have to use regular expressions for the searching.

You can use Lucene in order to index a wide range of documents (including PDF and DOC) to be able to search full-text through all your documents.
