Sorting the records of a Web log file

I need a JAVA code / application that I can use to sort the records that exist in a Web log file. The application should take the logfile as an input and produce a sorted output file for me. For example to sort the records by the IP address paramemter of the records, or by the date/time parameter, or by any other parameter in the log file.

Many thanks

We're not going to do you work for you. Read the posting guidelines. If you have a problem with the code/errors produced after you've tried to write the application yourself after some of your own research you can come back and we'll be glad to be of help.

Good luck,

Thank you but I am still new to Java. And I was not asking about the whole application, but about a code or even a Java class/method that will take the web log file as an input and process it to sort its records as an output. I am not asking from the community to do the whole project for me. What I am asking is a small part of a bigger project that I am doing alone.

Many thanks

Check out the Java Articles section: there's an article about a generic heap sort
algorithm (including source code!). It can sort anything you want; you just have
to supply some simple details in a Sortable interface implementation.

kind regards,
