calling windows API using java

i want include some functionality of the OS ,such as starting and shutting down and taking a screen shot, in to my application.Is that possible in java .where can i find some guidance on this issue.Is calling windows API in a java class solve this.

There is no support from Sun's java for this. If you want to have some interop between Java and the Windows OS you will need to look at the .NET technology J#. Look it up on MSDN, most or all java programs written for Sun Java will work with .NET.
