installation of eclipse

dear friends ,
i am using mandriva 2006.
i have done download of eclipse of the following file
eclipse-SDK-4.2.1-linux-gtk.tar.gz

after that tar -xvzf eclipse-SDK-4.2.1-linux-gtk.tar.gz

its give me following directory in this following file are there ..........

about_files/ eclipse* features/ notice.html startup.jar
about.html eclipse.ini icon.xpm plugins/
configuration/ epl-v10.html libcairo-swt.so* readme/

plz tell me that how can i installed the eclipse

Hi Sanjay,
try running the startup.jar. You have java installed for that. all you have to do is
type: java startup.jar in the shell. Hope this solved your problem

but its give error

bash: java: command not found

Try setting the Java path first. Do you know how to do that?

In your home directory, replace the term <jdk directory> with the name of your java installation directory - export PATH=/usr/java/<jdk directory>/bin:$PATH then save and exit . Reload the .bashrc file using the "source" command i.e - source .bashrc

You may want to read this first.

its tell that command not found

a window is pen and tell not a JRE envirnment and must install JVM
plz tell how i install JVM on my mandriva 2006 so that i run eclipse on my machine
