I use a serial COM port to connect to a GSM modem and use AT commands to set it up. Does your USB modem appear as a serial port ?
Alternativly I let Windows do the "dial up" and then use TCP/IP as with a wired network connection

You are doing very good.
But what i want to do is that i want my application to detect the hardware itself so that it will work properly.
Can't i detect what kind of hardware is attached to my system on a particular port. cause this is gonna make my app. more useable.
