i want to do password encryption before storing in database

Hi Friends,

i want to store the password in encription format in database .can we any option to do enccription by using java program before storing in database.please give ur valuable suggestions for this .........

or can we do this at database level?

Hi !
I usually use a MD5 encription engine. this is a very usefull java class that allow you to encript (with MD5 algorithm) a string. (I think also an Integere or an Object!). If you give me your mail I will send you it.
So you can encript then store in DB. (Most secure, infact in case of a Portal os web utility you can verify only the encripted string.)
If you prefer you can look at http://dev.w3.org/cvsweb/java/classes/org/w3c/tools/crypt/Md5.java
For newest version.
