Sending a data to a URL

hi every one i wanted to design a simple java program that will send the input data from a textbox to a corresponding url...how do we do it in a simple standalone java program..

Opening a url can be done using Runtime.exec

String browserPath = "C:/Program Files/Internet  Explorer/IEXPLORE.EXE"; //Use your browser path
                String url = "www.sun.com";
                try {
         String[] b = {browserPath, url};
                     Runtime.getRuntime().exec(b);
                }
                catch (Exception exc) {
    exc.printStackTrace();
                }
