Hi, all,
I have a question for you, I must to do an application that create a file .doc from some fields that I have on a Oracle DB.
I did some search and I find only 2 choise:
1) I can use POI libraries on Jakarta's poject;
2) I can use a template XML and then I can use some Java/s classes standard for replace something with something else.
The first choice http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/hwpf/index.html it is compatible with the older version of word but, if I understand right, does not in development becouse they don't have someone to do that.
The secon shoic is here: http://blogs.msdn.com/dotnetinterop/archive/2005/03/29/403331.aspx and use standard classes but, it's mor difficult for me and, I don't know if the file that I will generate is compatible only with word 2003 or with the previus too.
What do you suggest?
P.S.: Sorry for my not perfect english and thanks in advance for oyur attenction and your help.

what did you say was wrong with the POI package?
what did you say was wrong with the POI package?
In the page that I linked you can read:
At the moment we unfortunately do not have someone taking care for HWPF and fostering its development. What we need is someone to stand up, take this thing under his hood as his baby and push it forward. Ryan Ackley, who put a lot of effort into HWPF, is no longer on board, so HWPF is an orphan child waiting to be adopted.
So, I understand what I wrote in the first post.
I understand wrong?

Emh, sorry but I don't understand your reply,I know where I can download the package.
My question is: if the HWPF is "orphan" whuch is the best choice between the HWPF and the tutorial that use a template xml and java 1.4 standard classes.
If someone knowes a third choice, he/she can tell me, I will happy to know :D

Sorry if I misunderstood you then.
The poi version I've got was last updated 16-06-2006 which I'd say is fairly recent. Now for an implementation that is based on XML you can use it if you are good at your xml(I am not). It also seems to be restricting you to MsWord 2003?

Ok I understand now :D
Yes, I think that the second choice generate a file compatiblo only with MS Word 2003....
Ok I will try to do that application with POI package. If I will have some problem (and i'm suro for that) I will write a new thread.
Thank you very much.
Try the SDK from openoffice.org. It gives you just about any format or version you can think of as an option to save. (http://www.openoffice.org)

Thanks for your reply, I'm jist reading the openoffice sdk's documentation.
I don't uderstand yet how I can use it for my problem.
I understand that I can do an applet with a rich text format's editor and it could hel for another problem but I don't know how create a file and write it with the text Icreate in a JSP.
If you could tell me some link where I can find something more specific on OOoBeans, I will thank you very much.
