Writing to file using JApplet on the same computer.

-
I have googled and learned that there are limitations with JApplet
writing to files on remote host. However, I am unsure as to whether it
is possible to do so on the same computer. Please advice. Thank you.

A JApplet cannot normally write or read files, even on the same computer
(although there are exceptions). However, a signed applet is a way around
this limitation.
