Customize JTextPane

Hi everyone, I need your help! :)

I need to build a widget that manages (read, write, edit) XML files. My idea
is to build this new component on JTextPane; it allows to use RTM and HTML
files so I thought it be customed to manage XML too.
I read something about this so I understood that there are 3 component
(StyledDocument, StyledEditorKit and ViewFactory) and for each of these
classes I need to build my own customization...
I also want that my new component have a tool to expand or collapse XML
nodes (like some IDE editor such as Idea or Eclipse do with java code using
'+' sign on the left editor side...)
I think that JTextPane uses an object Document like model and a ViewFactory
like document view but I need to understand how JTextPane and all these
classes interact each-other and how should be customized...

I thank anyone who help me to clarify this problem

Best regards
Sergio
