Our client, through its Creative Services, Creative Sound Services,
Media Management Services and Networks Services groups, provides
creative and technical media services to the media and entertainment
industries. Through more than 70 facilities in the regions of Southern
California, New York, London and Singapore and at locations throughout
the world,our clientprovides effective solutions for the creation,
management and distribution of content to major motion picture studios,
independent producers, broadcast networks, cable channels, advertising
agencies and other companies that produce, own and/or distribute
entertainment, news, sports, corporate, educational, industrial and
advertising content.
Our client is a leading postproduction company, is looking to hire a
lead software engineer. The developer will be responsible for
architecting and implementing products that focus on digital asset
management and distribution.
The ideal candidate(s) will have an established track-record
implementing enterprise or media management applications for a product
company. They will have experience with all aspects of software
development including requirements analysis, software design,
implementation, test and documentation.
This candidate will be part of a small development group and must be
able to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
They should show strong initiative and should be comfortable both
developing software and interacting with clients within other
organizations.
We are seeking an "Senior Software Engineer-Developer" for the
Burbank office.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Design and implement new application functionality, including
ground-up product design.
· Work with product management to identify and prioritize
functionality.
· Create high and low level technical specifications.
· Estimate project effort and develop project plans.
· Interact with business and technical clients as part of integration
and sales effort.
REQUIRED SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
· 5+ years experience architecting and implementing OO solutions.
· In depth knowledge of J2EE and experience with at least one J2EE
application server.
· Experience doing web application and enterprise software
development.
· Experience designing reusable system integration architectures.
· Experience developing project and toolkit documentation.
· Experience developing web interfaces in HTML and JavaScript.
· An understanding of database design and familiarity with database
performance/tuning issues.
· Experience conducting technical research and analyzing business
requirements.
· An understanding of full lifecycle development.
· Experience managing small teams and a willingness to own day-to-day
project management tasks.
· Experience implementing software development procedures including
configuration management, build and test.
· Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
· BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
· A desire to learn new skills and technologies.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
· 5+ years experience with Java and knowledge of C++.
· 3+ years experience with J2EE: JSP, servlets, JMS, EJB, CORBA.
· Middleware: WebLogic, SunOne, or equivalent.
· Web technologies: XML, XSL, HTML, JavaScript.
· SQL and RDBMS technologies: Oracle, SQL Server or equivalent.
· Knowledge of UNIX, particulary Linux, Solaris or HP-UX.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
· Familiarity with Artesia, Webware or an equivalent DAM solution.
· Familiarity with video compression and non-linear editing tools.
· Familiarity with satellite and cable technologies.
· Experience working with store-and-forward technologies.
· An understanding of production and postproduction workflows.
· Experience developing data warehousing applications
· Experience developing Linux appliances.
