Linux question: in which directory you install j2sdk and Eclipse?

P: n/a
Tux

I want to upgrade the Mandrake 9.1 to Mandrake 10.1 and everyone told me
that clean install is better than upgrade, so I must create backup of my
java software (j2sdk and Eclipse) and return back after I install new
Mandrake.
How do you do that?
Where you install j2sdk and Eclipse and how to return back to a new
Mandrake?
