I am trying to write a program that performs certain types of searches and
analysis on data. As a test dummy, I would like to use a text on the
English language. I have searched and searched and can't seem to find a
text only, free, primer on the english language. Can anyone out there
point me in the right direction? I really don't want to have to use a
document any more complex then text or rich text at most.

if what you are asking for is a book on english grammar then
maybe a highschool english class textbook?
