Hi,
I have a problem with the autodownload function for the Java JRE
download. Problem is that users with java version 1.4.2 installed do
not update to version 1.5.0. I created my autodownload page as
described on http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/...html#launching.
I use this object to initiate the autodownload.
<OBJECT codebase="http://java.sun.com/update/1.5.0/jinstall-1_5_0-windows-i586.cab"
classid="clsid:5852F5ED-8BF4-11D4-A245-0080C6F74284" height=0 width=0>
<PARAM name="app" value="http://www.MySite.com/app.jnlp">
<PARAM name="back" value="true">
<!-- Alternate HTML for browsers which cannot instantiate the object
-->
<A href="http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.html">
Download Java Web Start</A>
</OBJECT>
This works if no java is installed or if a version lower than 1.4.2 is
installed. However, if the user has version 1.4.2, version 1.5 is not
downloaded, and the jnlp file is launched.
Does anyone have an idea why this is? Could it be because version 1.5
is still in RC state?
regards,
TD
