JMF + G723 codec

I'm having problems transcoding a WAV file using the G723 codec with JMF in
Java.
Does anyone know if the original WAV file needs to be in a certain format to
be transcoded ?
Or is there a code example anywhere to allow me to do this using JMF ?

I've also posted to the Sun JMF forum with my code :

Any ideas ?
Or is this just something which JMF can't do ?
According to the API it should be able to do it, but in practise ....
