Off course, Tomcat is a plain Java application and can be run as such. The
service wrappers are purely optional. Note that this means you can run
Tomcat from an IDE and place breakpoints in your servlet code. Makes all the
fancy modules to intergrate servlet containers with IDEs look quite silly,
doesn't it?
