getCookie in JSP

hello,

is there an easy way to get a cookie in a JSP, without a bean, script,
or servlet interceeding? if so, how is this done?

or,

if i have to create a function in a package, then how do i pass the
HttpRequest pointer off to the function from within a JSP?

i am dumb. i figured out how to do it through a package and request is
a reserved word in JSPs.

No it's not. It's a variable name. Please post to comp.lang.java.help in the
future. This newsgroup is not carried by all servers.
