Solaris pmap and java heap

P: n/a
I am trying to sort out the reported difference in memory used by my
java program.

using pmap -x and totaling the anonymous portions gives me a total of
10G.

From the java program, reported from inside using runtime
totalmemory-freememory = 8G

Why do i see the 2G difference and where is this memory going. Is this
memory used by something else and not reported.

I am on Solaris 2.8 running in 64bit mode.

Any insight or pointers will be appreciated .

Thanks,
Ardaman
