Hi
thanks for your help..Netbeans now works..funny thing is, the very thing you
told me to do i did before, except for the JAVA_HOME way...now, it does
work, and by both ways as well (ie either setting JAVA_HOME or that config
file)...
thanks
Joe

Hi
i just installed Netbeans on my windows pc and it installed fine. but
when i try to run it i get:
JDK 1.3 or later cannot be found on your machine. Please read the
README file.
i read the readme file but to no avail..i'm still working on the
problem, but i thought posting it might save me some time. if anyone knows
what to do, let me know.
thanks

system: win XP, Java SDK 1.4.2
did you check your environment settings?
They should contain:
1) JAVA_HOME=<javainstalldirhere>
2) PATH variable should cointain the path to the <javainstallhere>/bin

Or you can add:
-jdkhome <JDK directory>
to your ide.cfg file as described here:
//www.netbeans.org/kb/using-netbeans/35/configuring.html
