KeyEvents messing up my jpopup

Hi, I use keyadapter to show/hide and navigate my jpopup and
everything works fine... But when the popup has been opened, and I
want to navigate inside my jpopup menu, the caret moves inside the
textpane that holds jpopup.

How can I prevent the caret from moving inside the textpane when the
jpopup is visible? I can use the arrow keys fine to move up and down
inside the jpopup, and ENTER to select items from a list placed inside
the jpopup. But I dont want the caret to move in the textpane as well.

Any ideas?
