Try comp.lang.java.help (basic, beginner queries) or
comp.lang.java.programmer (more advanced queries). They're about as close as
you'll get.

I'm new to the Java groups. Can someone explain the diff between
compl.lang.java.programmer and comp.lang.java? Is java about the
language itself, and java.programmer more specific "how do I code this?"
type questions?

No, comp.lang.java is not supposed to actually exist. It's generally
requested that you don't post to it.
