Ok,

1) goto 'My Computer' on your desktop and right click
2) From the context menu select 'Properties'
3) In the dialog box select the 'Advanced' tab
4) On the tab is a button called 'Environment Variables', click it
5) In the 'Environment Variables' dialog but there are two sections, look in
the 'System Variables' (the bottom section) from the variable 'Path'
6) Click the 'Path' variable to highlight and click the 'Edit' button
7) Add the path the javac to the path and click 'OK' > 'OK' > 'OK'
8) Reboot the computer

Javac should then be accessible from anywhere in the DOS prompt.

Also I would the JCreator IDE available from http://www.jcreator.com/. I use
the free version which does pretty much everything.
