Potentially dumb question

Could anyone tell me where I might download the latest version of the
Java Development Kit? I have an old Java book and I thought I might
play with it but I need a kit that works with Win XP.

TIA

Thank you. I looked around Sun's site but didn't see it before.

Regards.

Try http://java.sun.com/ (If by "kit", you meant an IDE, download the
NetBeans bundle. Or Eclipse is good too: http://www.eclipse.org/)
Quite a lot of things have changed, so, your old book might not be
sufficient. I recommend you also download the latest documentation for
Java (available at http://java.sun.com/reference/docs/index.html)
