FAQ for this group?

Greetings.

I have been posting on the C++ newsgroup for a while now as I learned
C++. I start JAVA in January and am gearing up to tackle the language.

Is there a FAQ for this newsgroup so I can become familiar with any
regs prior to needing help?

Thanks.

little black dots on a white screen, and they fell thus:

I don't think so. But there are FAQs for at least three Java newsgroups
that officially exist. See
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/by-newsgroup/comp/

Roedy also has a comprehensive Java information site:

There is no FAQ for this newsgroup because comp.lang.java was retired
in 1996, replaced by a number of more specific newsgroups. Most people
don't see postings on comp.lang.java, because only a few news servers
still carry it. Google Groups carries it for its historical value, and
a few ISPs (mainly cable-Internet providers) seem to carry it out of
ignorance :-)

The current worldwide Java newsgroups are:

comp.lang.java.3d 3D Graphics API's for the Java language
comp.lang.java.advocacy Support for and criticism of the Java System
comp.lang.java.announce Announcements re the Java System (Moderated)
comp.lang.java.beans Java software components (JavaBeans)
comp.lang.java.corba Topics relating to Java and CORBA
comp.lang.java.databases Databases, java.sql, JDBC, ODBC
comp.lang.java.gui GUI toolkits and windowing: AWT, IFC etc
comp.lang.java.help Set-up problems, catch-all first aid
comp.lang.java.machine JVM, native methods, hardware
comp.lang.java.programmer Programming in the Java language
comp.lang.java.security Security issues raised by Java
comp.lang.java.softwaretools IDEs, browsers, compilers, other tools.

You should use the most specific newsgroup that applies, without
crossposting.

If you have a question or a problem with an IDE or other tool, take it
to comp.lang.java.softwaretools. If you have a question about Swing,
ask in comp.lang.java.gui. If you have a question about JDBC, use
comp.lang.java.databases. EJB is covered in comp.lang.java.beans.
Questions on topics that don't have a specific newsgroup should be
directed to comp.lang.java.help.

General technical discussions occur in comp.lang.java.programmer
(which is kind of the 'default' newsgroup for Java stuff), while
arguments about 'this sucks/that rocks/what's the best' should be
confined to comp.lang.java.advocacy.

There is a Mini-FAQ for a few of the Java Newsgroups, reposted every
few days. The most recent at this writing can be found at
