weblogic

This is newbie question.
What is weblogic? Is it replacement
of apache or tomcat? if not is there
any thing available in open source?

Weblogic is a fairly generic term for a suite of products produced by
BEA, and based predominantly upon the J2EE umbrella of specifications.
If you're referring to Weblogic Server, it is a JSP/Servlet container
like Tomcat, however it also has EJB, JMS, JTA, JNDI support amongst
others. If you're looking for something that supports those features in
open source you might want to consider JBoss.
