I'm working on a windows 98 machine with the latest sun sdk.
In summary there are two problems I get with appletviewer
1. The applet tries to open a socket to the wrong port
2. The proxy is ignored.
Using appletviewer, I am loading an applet from my local hard disk
and trying to connect to an external IP.
If I put the appletviewer in unrestricted classes mode and set
..hotjava\properties as follows
(.hotjava is in c:\java, and I set HOME=c:\java)
appletviewer.security.mode=unrestricted
proxyHost=123.123.123.123
proxyPort=80
proxySet=true
When the applet tries to connect as follows:
sock = new Socket(ip, port); //port = 8123, ip =
234.234.234.234
I see my machine try to connect to 234.234.234.234:137 (which is a netbios
port)
It ignores the proxy, (tries to connect direct) and is trying the wrong
port.
When I use the Properties menu to set the proxy, the same occurs.
Again, I am loading the applet from my local disk, which, according to sun,
should allow appletviewer to connect to an external site.
Any idea what's going on? (I have verified IP and port values with the
debugger)
Thanks
