Hosting website locally

I am completely new to this and have been reading a lot of feed back over the internet and i am not being able to resolve the problem.

I have set up a web server (MS Window Server 2003) and successfully configured the server. I can access the webpages by typing the ip address (http://XXX.XX.XX.XXX/test.html).

The problem that i am having is having my domain name forward to the local server. I purchased a domain name from godaddy. Then i have update the host summary by adding ns.domainname.com with my static ip XXX.XX.XX.XXX and ns1.domainname.com with the same ip. Then after adding these host summary i added the name server as ns.domainname.com and ns1.domainname.com.

I also found out that it takes about 24hrs to 72 hrs as propagation time. But it been more than 72 hrs and my domain name is still not forwarding to my static ip.
I have been using http://domaintoip.com to check what ip address the domain name shows but i am getting null value.

Is there something that i am missing? Also do i have to set up DNS on my local server to achieve this?

Please advice
