ISS 5 serving incomplete pages; replying error 404, 500, 404 to images files reques

Hello,

I have a strange problem with my new website. I have installed IIS 5.1 (Win XP pro). The website runs pretty well but sometimes the web browser does not display all the images that should be present on a page (the browser displays a red "X" instead). When I request the page again, the missing images are displayed after reloading the page a few times, or after I request these files manually by typing their name in the address window of the browser.

These errors are logged in the IIS log sometimes as error 403, sometimes 500 and sometimes 404. The files concerned are always .png or .jpg. When I request these files manually, they are correctly displayed and are logged as error 200 (OK).

Example:

First request:
15:40:07 192.**.**.** - W3SVC1 AZUS-AMD 192.**.**.** 80 GET /images/image1.jpg - 403 5 4410 291 0 HTTP/1.1 192.**.**.** Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+.NET+CL R+1.1.4322) -

Manual request or affter many "reload":
15:43:43 192.**.**.** - W3SVC1 AZUS-AMD 192.**.**.** 80 GET /images/image1.jpg - 200 0 14179 431 15 HTTP/1.1 192.**.**.** Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+.NET+CL R+1.1.4322) - -

Does anybody have any clue about this problem?

Thanks in advance.
