connection limit questions for web service on IIS 5.1 / xp

HI have a few questions regarding IIS5.1 and the the 10 connection limit, If anyone can help clarify this I would greatly appreciate any help. - this is the situation.

We host a site on a win2k3 server and are currently teaming up with another company who have a network of windows xp machines across the country, each one of these boxes has IIS 5.1, no web site is installed on the xp boxes instead its just a .net web service which sends data back to our site. We are aiming for our web site on the 2003 server to talk to the web services on the xp machines when required. This will most probably result in multiple connections from our web site to the xp machines and this is where we are concerned that the 10 connection limit on the xp side may hinder this process.

Connections to the IIS 5 web service will only come from 1 ip address which is that of our site, not sure if this affects what is classed as a connection or not?

I'm aware that IIS5.1 can be bumped up to 40 tcp connections and have read that you should assume 4 connections per http request so am I right in thinking that our web site would be able to make 10 simultaneous connections to the web service before the 403.9 too many connections error kicks in on the xp iis server?

hope ive explained this ok! any help would be greatly appreciated, tia!

cheers,
Ken

Welcome to TSDN. Have you asked the other company whether they would upgrade their boxes? Sometimes in business we are too afraid to ask because we think at the start we have to be yes men. It will affect the relationship later if you can't do what you said you would do. I always prefer to deal with the same platform. Enough said, if they have said no then you are stuck with limitations.
