IIS 5.1 Logging in to local host page

Hello to all,

I am a self starter in network administration - last year accomplished A+ certification. No job yet but in my spare
time I am developing my own network with several laptops.

1) Yesterday accomplished setup with two inspiron 8000
computers

2) Current setup simple - two computers - one US robotics
4 port router 8004 - one DSL modem

3) Computer B - OS = Win 2000 pro

4) Computer A - OS = Win XP PRO with IIS 5.1 installed

5) Computer A - test director 7.6 installed and operational

*** Current_Issue = I am attempting to access computer A
with Computer A in web browser using current IP address
a) I recieve a login - username & passord box - I then attempt
to gain access by entering my administrator information.
The login window keeps reapearing and regardless of which user that i input it eventualy provides a 401 access denied page.
A) I have turned off the firewall on the router and the computer

B) I have assigned virtual service port on the router as 80
on ID 1

C) The computer port setting I believe to be 25 ( Do these
port setting values need to match - router to computer?)

D) anonymous access is granted for my IIS 5.1 server

E) I have tried logging in using IP & computer name to no avail

F) System settings claim no need for password authentication but it repeatedly request such.

I am sure it is a simple issue I am overlooking but I am taking too much time with it. Any help would be apreciated,

regards,

Chris S
