Not able to view site on intranet

Hello, I'm a ASP.NET developer with a little experience in IIS but I'm having difficulties getting a little ASP.NET application I wrote up on my home intranet.

Here's the details:
- I can view the site fine where the application is hosted by browsing http://<machine name>/<application virtual directory>
- When going to http://<machine name>/<application virtual directory> on a remote computer, I get paged cannot be displayed.
- From the remote computer, I can ping the hosting server by both name and ip
- From the remote computer, I can access fileshares on the hosting server

I'm not sure if this is an IIS issue or local network issue...Any step in the right direction is appreciated! Thank you.

Same Problem I m facing
Only difference is, I m using PHP and your ASP.NET.
PHP is working properly on my laptop. On Laptop named LAPTOP, I installed IIS too. but when i connect another computer with LAPTOP using LAN, and I give address on address bar http://laptop/site/index.php but it is not open. through laptop is pinging and accessing properly but what is this problem i don't know.
Plz anybody help us.

I use Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2000, so may, or may not work

Can you view it if you put the page into the address?
for instance http://<machine>/<folder>/<page>.aspx
If you can, then you need to set properties in IIS
IIS, navigate to the folder. Right Mouse click, look at documents tab, is default.aspx (or whatever you called the index page) in there?
If you can't, still check the properties above.

Thanks for the replies.

Specifying the file name (http://<machine name>/<folder name>/<page name>.aspx) gave me the same results...success on local server, page cannot be found on remote server.

As an FYI, I get the same results regardless of page type.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks again for the help.

I figured out my issue. I had to allow port 80 on my hosting server through the Windows XP firewall.
