Web page returns "The page cannot be found" in IIS 5

57 New Member
I have a web page that I installed to IIS 6.0 from a web deployment project successfully.

I am trying to deploy the same application to laptops that are running IIS 5.0. I am getting an error "the page cannot be found". My virtual directory is setup correctly (at least in the same manner as per iis 6).

I dont see a tab for web service extentions. I cannot browse from IIS either, I get the same error, even if I browse to an htm file.

What have I not turned on.

i do get iisstart.asp to work if i browse to http://localhost/
i am required to run ie 6.0

oh.
i respelled my application name from something.1 to something1. the application now starts. Does IIS have a dislike for .'s?

Well here is another question, has anyone used the file-types-on-target-machine to assign .vs files?

I believe that you are right, IIS does not like . in virtual directory names. Here is an article that may help:

I've been working on creating a Complex class for my own learning purpose (learn through doing etc.). I'm once again puzzled about something. I can't figure out how to overload the assignment operator. Here's what I'm trying to do. I've defined class Complex as class Complex { friend ostream &operator<<( ostream &, Complex & ); public: Complex( float = 0.0, float = 0.0 );

Hi, I have set up an asp.net website on another PC in order to test it. The site was fine on my PC, but on the new PC all the pages give the error "The Page Cannot Be Found". Some legacy pages (ASP, as opposed to ASP.Net) work fine. The old PC was running Windows 2000 Server, and the new PC I am testing on is running Windows Server 2003. Thanks in advance,

Hi, I'm wondering how you can use the standard C# library to get the "windows" directory? (e.g. "c:/windows"). I need to specify the location of a config file in a service, and I don't want to hard-code anything. Thanks.

It there a way that would allow me to create a cnonce value when using the HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse objects for connectivity? If the "WWW-Authenticate" header returns the "qop" I need to be able to set the cnonce value in the reply? I don't see any way that I can do this. I am trying to get connectivity with RETS a rets site that has client authentication enabled and need to be able to generate a specific RFC 2617

Basically, the problem is this: 'do' Python's NFA regexp engine trys only the first option, and happily rests on that. There's another example: 'oneself' The Python regular expression engine doesn't exaust all the

I have a .NET 1.1 web page with a DataGrid containing a TemplateColumn that contains a DropDownList. I need to fire an event when the selected item in the DropDownList changes for the current DataGrid row, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this. Other control types I have defined the "CommandName" property in the aspx file. The event returns the index of the row that contains the control, and I can thus pull more data out...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
