page not displayed error on intranet

2 New Member
I have an intranet running iis 5.1 with xp pro on all workstations. Accessing the default web site works fine from the server using administrative rights users and limited rights users. The web site has anonymous access priviledges.
When i try to access the web site from a workstation, i get page cannot be displayed - (cannot find server). I am using the ip address of the server in the web address and can successfully ping this server from the workstation.

Hi there,

How are you accessing those pages? What do you type in the address bar? Try typing the IP address of the default website. By default http://localhost or 127.0.0.1 listens to local pc. Good luck & take care

I was using the IP address when trying to access the pages. This problem was solved by reconfiguring the router firewall. Thanks-

Ensure the the web browser on the Web Server (host) has intranet security settings set to the default (Medium-Low). This may resolve problem!

I am displaying a form with a datagrid populated from a select of database records which now exceed 12,000 when I select them all. The form displays just fine with all 12,000+ entries but when I leave the form to go back to the originating screen, I get a "The page cannot be displayed" screen for "Cannot find server or DNS Error" "Internet Explorer". You know the page - it starts with "The page you are looking for is currently...

The form displays just fine with all 12,000+ entries but when I leave the form to go back to the originating program, I get a "The page cannot be displayed" screen for "Cannot find server or DNS error" "Internet Explorer". I'm doing a page which gathers some text in the form of a text box in a <form>. This text is saved to a text file, notices.txt and I want to be able to display the saved text on the page, as soon as they click the SUBMIT button - is this possible? At the moment I have a hyperlink called "back" which, once they have entered the text and they click SUBMIT, the "back" hyperlink will refresh the page and it displays the newly entered text....

I have some pages I'm serving out that are about twice the size of the browser window (IE only; intranet only). The user must use the horizontal and vertical scroll bars to move the page around. Is it possible to have a javascript that would allow the user to click and drag the page around (kind of like the new Google maps)? I already have a ton of scripting in these pages - a few more lines won't hurt anything. Maybe someone could...

I am setting up a intranet webserver that will run my ASP.NET website. (Everything works fine locally.) When I try accessing an aspx page, via IE, it gives me the "Page cannot be displayed" error, even though the file exists! For example, the error occurs when trying to access this page and several others. http://86.34.27.221/MyWeb/Default.aspx Interestingly, when I try this page it shows up fine:

Team, When my web service throws an exception and I am debugging on my PC - I get the exception back in my browser fine. My web.config shows <customErrors mode="Off"/> and this is working well. However, when I test this web service on the deployment server, I only get 'The page cannot be displayed' instead of the exception. That is when I call the web service on the deployment server locally or remotely. The web.config on the...

Hello, I need to write a systemtray program to check every minute if a certain intranet page exists. Would "webBrowser.Navigate" and catching exceptions to it be a good choice in terms of load on the PC? If the page exists, the program should load and display it. The program would run on a couple of thousand PCs and the idea is to have a very basic, one-to-many instant message.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
