I'm testing a new design for my blog, which you can see at
http://huh.34sp.com/wrong. It displays as I would like it to on
Mozilla (and, for that matter, Lynx) and, to the best of my knowledge,
this is as it should be according to the standards (the HTML and CSS
validate, which I guess covers the minimum in that regard).
However, in IE6 the floated 'subtitles' of each post (the sections
which say, for example 'In General By tim @ 1/1/04') are partially
hidden. They're still 'there' in some sense as, for example, clicking
on where a link ought to be activates the link.
I attempted to fix this by setting the z-index of these elements to 1,
but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?
One thing that came up while searching for answers was a claim on the
MSDN site that floated elements must have a width specified. I
couldn't find any reference to this in the CSS specs, but maybe I
missed it. So I wonder if I do in fact need to specify a width for
these elements and, if so, how I can go about giving a sensible width
for elements with contents of, well, varying widths.
Any help would be most welcome (as would other comments on the design,
or indeed the content, although the latter would probably be more
on-topic in the comments of the page itself).
