Lay-out problem

In our website www.pearltree.nl I use lines like this

p.budget{position:absolute;top:+25px;left:+110px;w idth:100px;height:100px;co
lor:black;background-color:#ffffec;font-size:8pt;font-weight:bold;text-align
:center;border=0;padding:0;margin:0;font-family:"verdana",ariel}

To position the five buttons along the top. Some browsers (IE #5 for
instance) have problems with this syntax. Part of the five buttons are ont
displayed. The buttons are all sort of lumped to the left of the screen,
partly overlapping each other. What is wrong?

Many thanks,
Adrian.

found at the following URIs.

I am not asking how to do things without
having put in a serious effort myself.
I have used several browsers in the past
to check out the working of the website
and found it to be ok. Only by chance
did I find out that Windows Explorer 5
has a problem with the site.
It would appear that I have a style sheet
problem. This is a ng specialized in style
sheets, so I have no idea why my quuestion
should give rise to a shitty answer. If there
are ways and means of checking out a
website then why don't you just tell me?

.... probably because they are mentioned time and time again on this group
(i.e. we're sick of answering the same questions over and over) and
standard nettiquette is to lurk for a few days before becoming an active
member of a newsgroup community to avoid acting inappropriately (i.e. you
should have known already).

If you don't feel like answering a question then simply don't,
rather than using an honest question to inflate your ego.

Try validating your mark-up and style definitions:
<http://validator.w3.org/> for the mark-up;
<http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/> for the css,
and correct the indicated mistakes.

If the problem still exists after cleaning up your code, come back and not
just describe the problem, but also tell the newsgroup _what_ you did to
try to solve the problem. That way others can focus on different
approaches than you tried, which makes it more likely that your problem
gets solved.

He did tell you, but you were to lazy/arrogant to check out the
resources he provided, here you go:

I did answer the question. i.e. "Go validate, this is why". Its just such a
common problem that I did so via a link instead of copy pasting a huge page
of text.

Welcome to Usenet. I suggest that when you post a question demonstrating
laziness and lack of respect for the community that you be grateful when
somebody gives you any help at all rather then killfiling you. Complaining
that you don't get spoon fed code isn't going to make you very popular.

Maybe you shoud re-read the question as I worded it.
I gave a line of code and asked what was wrong with that line of code
since I expected the error to be there, which I subsequently realize
it wasn't. But that I did not know at the time.

You are out of line.

Thanks to the responses of some of you, I am now able to
check out my website. I am finding a number of mistakes
to be put right.

Many thanks again,
