table {border-spacing: 12px;}
td, th {padding: 15px;}

But a certain well known browser doesn't support border-spacing so
you're better off sticking with the HTML in a WWW situation.

<table cellspacing="12px">
<tr><td></td></tr>
<table>

table {
border-collapse: separate;
border-spacing: 12px;
}

td {
padding: 15px;
}
What Steve Pugh said about MSIE is correct; however, it can do the
padding, so you can (and probably should) at least move that attribute
to css.

Boy, make a mistake in ciwa*, get hammered twice, in rapid succession. :-)

Thanks for the correction: There's no "px" in HTML cellspacing attributes.

<table cellspacing="12">
Sorry for the gaff.

Thanks to all!
cellpadding is outta here. And in 5 years, when the latest IE has
caught up to 2004, goodbye to cellspacing.
