width 100%

Hi everybody, I got a small problem that I really hope someone will help me
to solve because I have to do another one site whith this same kind of menu
and it is really a problem if I can't solve it.

I got a 150px div with a menu inside.
menu items all are 100% width, with different background-color in a e
a:hover.
The problem is that in IE and Opera it render OK, but in all other browsers
background color takes just the width of text and not 150px of container
div.

How can I manage to visualize a link background 150px wide?

thanks

How about an URL? There is only enough info here for a WAG.

Sounds like you aren't using nice markup for the menu, and are trying to use
the width property on an element with display: inline (where it doesn't
apply).

'<' / '>' often works to protect long links..

I despise them for other reasons:

- can't see where they're going before you click on them;

- not one, but two redirects before you get to the real
page -- slowing me down!
