border disappears in ie

I have almost managed to convert my site from using table layout to using
CSS however I have a couple of issues I can't solve.

I would like some text to sit above the copyright notice at the bottom of
the page however still have the content flow down the right hand side of it
to the bottom.

To demonstrate I uploaded an example page here:

Another issue I have found is with the grey borders disappearing in IE when
the page is scrolled. I think this is because the 2 content divs are
floated but I don't know how to fix it.

Can anyone help me with this as its the only thing stopping me from
finishing the site.

I'm afraid I don't have the time right now to debug it for you but I can
tell you that I've had similar problems before and I've always found helpful
suggestions from http://www.alistapart.com/ and in particular their articles
on box model hacks and fluid layouts under CSS. Hopefully some CSS guru will
have a more helpful answer soon. It may boil down to not having both the
left-nav and main DIVs as floats. If one of them was positioned abolutely
I'm sure things might work out - I know that I've never had any success when
both the nav-column and main-body DIVs are floating.

Thanks for the pointers. I got the solution from reading one of the list
apart articles. Turns out all I had to do was float the content div left as
well.
