Layout and colour problems

Hi all,

I am having trouble getting an easy resizing grid of boxes to work.
The appearance is different in IE and Mozilla, but it works best in Mozilla.

The page consists of 2 rows and 2 columsn, with the bottom right box containing
any number of smaller boxes that need to move around depending on browser size.

The bottom right box is supposed to have a black background, but only the top
2ems is black. The smaller boxes in the bottom right box have black backgrounds,
but that won't achieve the look I want. I don't want to set the height of the
top and bottom right boxes because then I'll get the "IE 3px between left
floated boxes and the stuff on their right" bug.

The page is at:
http://www.orientalstyle.com.au/css.html

and the style sheet is at:
httpp://www.orientalstyle.com.au/basic.css
Thanks for any help.
