Could this be done in IE?

http://www.firasd.org/works/academic...s/humains.html

I bet the answer is 'no', but is there a way to make the "Every window
on Alcatraz..." not skip a line without using parent > child selectors?

I'm avoiding <br> for semantics and because I want the first-line indent
to be applied to the line (but I guess I'll go with <br> and &nbsp; if
there's no other way (unless the line skip doesn't look that bad at all?))

Yes. Apply a class to the paragraphs in question.
(unless the line skip doesn't look that bad at all?))

It doesn't imho.

While we're at it, last question: does anyone think the border should go?

It looks fine to me. It would look too plain without it.

Maybe even take it a step further and put a really light pattern around
the outside but leave the content div white. Something like this:

I have no idea what the page is about, or even if something like that
would be appropriate. ;) Just throwing some ideas out there. See you
later, Aron
