Creating a Template with CSS

Hi -

I hope this isn't too silly of a question but I am really confused...

I have an external style sheet that defines a header and a left
sidebar as well as a content body.

What I want to do is put an image in both the header (a complex
rollover with menus created in Fireworks and outputted as a table) and
the sidebar. These images will appear on every page.

How can I do this using style sheets? It seems simple to do. If I
understand correctly, these images are considered content and need to
be added to an HTML file not a CSS file, however, this defeats the
entire purpose of what I am doing...to not have to copy and paste
images over and over.

So, how can I load images into these regions with as little redundance
as possible?

CSS is not there to replace HTML, even if you can do that with it.
So, how can I load images into these regions with as little redundance
as possible?

It is possible, but if your images are content, you should use
preprosessor, SSI, replace, php or whatever, but CSS.

I don't know what these rollovers are, but it sounds like images as
text. Links are more accessible as text than images made to look like
text. And css can be used to enhance their look and mimic js rollovers.

Then you're hoping for something for css that it can't deliver.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I am going to stick to SSI for this
site.

It seems like that contradicts the purpose of CSS...maybe this
functionality will be added in a future standard?
