Web Stalker

P: n/a
Well, I got Web Stalker to work on an iBook running OS 9.2 without too
much hassling, and it sure is a nonconventional and bizarrely
idiosyncratic browser!

And perhaps there are things one will come to love about its equally
nonconventional user interface, but if so I didn't learn to love 'em
during my brief exploration.

One question: My objective was to explore my own web site while it's
still in its assembly folder on my HD and before its uploaded my
university server. I could get the WS crawler to open my web site on
the university system (over a DSL connection) by using

http://www.university.edu/~myName/index.html

but when I tried to open the folder on my HD using

file:///myHardDisk/myWebFolder/index.html

which is what Netscape says is the URL for the folder on my HD, the
crawler wouldn't open this -- and the resulting error message flashed
for about a millisecond in the crawler window. Are those messages
logged somewhere accessible?

Any likely alternatives to get Stalker to open a URL that points to a
file on your own HD?
