(Flash) Why is my text box background white?

Using Flash MX, how do I tell the text box to stop putting a solid white
background color behind the text? I can't see my movie background through
it, it's annoying. I want the text to be black and no background applied to
the text box itself (transparent).

Thanks.

action script:
textfield_name.background = 0

Better group for flash questions is macromedia.flash:
