Problem submitting FORM, but only in Internet Explorer

P: n/a
Hi,

We have an order form on our site that is a simple HTML page that has a
FORM in it. The FORM ACTION is to run a perl script that processes the
order. For a long time, we've noticed on several machines -- XP, 98,
and 2000 -- that when we use IE 5 or IE 6 and submit the page, the
browser either returns a "page not found" error instantaneously, or the
script receives empty form variables from the HTML form. If we simply
hit the browser's Back button and then click Submit again with no
changes to the form data, it works!

This problem occurs even if we close and restart the brower between
tests and the problem is reproducible every time we try it. If we
submit the form in Netscape or Mozilla it works fine every time.

Is there something specific to IE that causes this problem and is there
something I can do about it? Because Netscape and Mozilla work, I'm led
to say it's a problem in IE, but I was wondering if anyone else had ever
seen this problem.

Thanks,
-- Vinnie

How about making a simple test page that easily reproduces the error so
we can test it?
Same for the perl part. The shortest code necessary to reproduce the
error.

I have found that doing that part alone can often help you find the
error. If it doesn't, post the short html page and short perl script so
we can test it.
