.... tits on a nun!

It's not coping well at all with nested tables, and is confusing the width
of the inner tables with the width of the outer tables, and rendering them
all wrong.

Can anyone recommend another authoring tool? I don't need a lot of bells
and whistles, but something that deals intelligently with tables.

What purpose have you for nesting tables?

Dividing a page into three columns, left column (cell) contains a table
which is a navigation bar. I don't want to use frames, as I want the three
columns to scroll in unison, not independantly.

This mechanic finds that the newfangled stuff don't cut it like tried and
true text editors, which allow the mechanic to get the job done without
trouble - He sees the potential in newfangled tools, but just wishes they
worked reliably.

SK,

Take Karl's Advice and check out CSS. After
that head on over to www.download.com and
scoff AceHTML. It's not a WYSIWYG editor,
but very , very easy to use, especially with regards
to CSS! You'll find CSS to be much easier than
nested tables.

belong in ciwa-tools, but I think what you need is a new approach to

Indeed it is, has great syntax highlighting for quite a number of
languages, nice, clean layout, a very good search and replace and you
can't beat the price at free.

Just some recommendations:

1. jEdit [1] -- quite flexible; works on almost all platforms; works for
many languages; has syntax highlighting; has lots of plugins (tho mostly
for Java editing) incl. XML editing options, an IRC chat (oooh! shiny!
=P) and FTP embedding for the open-file menu; costs nothing

2. Dreamweaver [2] -- has a WYSIWYG mode; works on Windows (and Mac?);
basic syntax highlighting; lots of template options; embedded FTP
browser with CVS support (IIRC); online database of plugins; costs mucho
money (there's a cheaper license for schools and students I think) but

Agent Smith scribbled something along the lines of:
Dreamweaver MX.
http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/

<snip/>

if you have 399 USD / 555 EUR (!!!) to waste...

I wonder why it's more expensive to buy it in German than in
English/Spanish/French/Japanese/Korean/Chinese (all in one) tho.
As far as I remember it contains neither violence nor nazi symbols which
would have to be removed from the original version for the German
market... or does it?

Indeed it is, has great syntax highlighting for quite a number of
languages, nice, clean layout, a very good search and replace and
you can't beat the price at free.

Regarding the very good search and replace in Crimson: is there a way
to do multi-line replacement? Such as:

Search: <li>This Menu</li>

Replace: <li>This Menu</li>\r\n<li>Next Menu</li>

...or similar?

I've been fiddling with version 3.60 for awhile.
