Hotmail shows CID: files as attachments?

P: n/a
Have been experimenting with sending HTML by using Content ID using the cid:
tag. I noticed that when the email is received in Outlook it looks great.
But when received in Hotmail web based client, though it looks ok, it shows
all the files that were included as cid: tagged as attachments. Not a very
professional look. Anyway to not have cid: tagged files not show as
attachments in all email clients?

no - mail is a text based medium. some mail clients also support other
formats

It has been suggested, here and elsewhere, that many mail users are setting
their mail filters to give HTML a high score as most of it is garbage.

I recently received thanks from a customer for suggesting they bolt down
their mail client (Outlook Express) to 'read all messages in plain text'.
Apparently this simple tactic has saved them hundreds of pounds in colour
cartridges as they are compelled to print (beats me too) documents received
from their supplier(s) - delivery notes/Invoices maybe?
